Meet Anders Weilandt, Swedish diabetes app developer and Diabetes Tools CEO

AndersWeilandtWho are you?

I am Anders Weilandt, Chief Executive Officer of medtech start-up company Diabetes Tools.

Please tell us a little more about why you are interested in diabetes, professionally and/or personally.

Throughout my 30+ years of rewarding work within medtech, I have always seen gaps in technological need as a challenge. And this time it’s different – it’s for the sake of patients directly, hundreds of millions of them. [Read more…]

Adrian James of Omada Health is coming to Diabetes Innovation

Adrian JamesWho are you? Where are you from? Why are you here?

I’m Adrian James, one of the co-founders of Omada Health. My background is mechanical engineering and design (10 years at IDEO), and my passion is inspiring better health and helping people stay away from preventable chronic disease.

Please tell us a little more about why you are interested in diabetes, professionally and/or personally.

I have type 2 diabetes in my family history and plenty of personal motivation to take health seriously, but the reasons I’m in this space have more to do with the desire to improve our food culture, address poor nutritional literacy, and raise awareness of prediabetes and the healthy path away from type 2. Additionally, at IDEO I spent years designing devices for people with type 1 and I feel very connected to the reality of managing blood sugar on a daily basis. [Read more…]
